An independent guide to air purifiers and indoor air, written for the way Perth's air actually behaves.
Why this site exists
Most air purifier reviews are written for American or British homes. They quote US prices, test models that aren't sold here, and repeat coverage figures that assume one air change an hour. None of them mention evaporative coolers, burn-off season or what an easterly does to smoke from the Hills.
Perth's air is good most of the time, which is exactly why the bad weeks catch people out. Clear Air Perth tries to answer one narrow question well: which purifier, if any, makes sense for your room, your budget and the problem you actually have here.
What we do, and what we don't
We compile; we don't lab-test
We don't run our own lab. We rely on published independent testing, manufacturer specifications and CHOICE results where they're available, and we say which is which.
We use realistic numbers
Box claims are converted into realistic room sizes with one consistent formula, shown in full.
We price in Australian dollars
Every price is in AUD at an Australian retailer, and dated. When a unit is only good value on sale, we say so.
We cite our health sources
Our health guides draw on WA Health, DBCA, DWER and peer-reviewed research, and list every source. We're not doctors, and nothing here replaces medical advice.
We say when not to buy
One of the most expensive units we cover is also our lowest rated. If a cheaper fix will do the job, like a rangehood or an open window, we'll tell you.
We correct mistakes in the open
Meaningful changes are dated and logged in the changelog.
How we make money
Clear Air Perth is paid through affiliate links. When you click a “Where to buy” button and then buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission, usually a few per cent of the price. You pay the same either way.
- No manufacturer or retailer pays to be included or to be ranked higher.
- Commission rates don't decide rankings. Where a unit is sold by several retailers, we link to more than one so you can choose.
- Affiliate links are disclosed on every page, and marked as sponsored in the page code so search engines treat them as such.
Corrections and updates
Prices are checked every few months and dated on each page. If you spot a price that's wrong, a claim that's out of date or a mistake in one of the health guides, please email us. We fix errors and record meaningful changes in the changelog.
